Fort Bend County Judge KP George – Biography and Leadership Overview

KP George took office as Fort Bend County Judge on January 1, 2019, following a strong electoral victory. His leadership was reaffirmed by voters in 2022, securing a second term with overwhelming support. As the highest elected official in one of the fastest-growing counties in the U.S., Judge George’s responsibilities include overseeing a $650 million+ budget and leading over 3,600 county employees.

Guiding Governance and Emergency Response

Judge George presides over the Commissioners Court and also serves as the Director of the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. His tenure has been marked by a commitment to enhancing governmental transparency, improving public safety, and preparing the county for emergencies. Notably, his management of Fort Bend’s COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts helped the county rank among the top five in Texas for vaccination rates.


Strategic Programs and Economic Growth

Under Judge George’s leadership, Fort Bend County has launched numerous recovery and support programs during and after the pandemic. These include the Utility, Rental, and Mortgage Assistance program, Childcare Voucher program, and Small Business Emergency Grant program. More than $44 million in grants were awarded through initiatives like the Small Business Mentorship program and Get Hired Employer incentives. His efforts also expanded programs such as “We All Eat Texas,” supporting food access across the county.
